Poetry inspired by obsessive love, lust, and holding onto people tightly. So tightly, sometimes, you may not want to let them go. You may not want to let them leave your dinner party. But they may want to leave if they do not accept or understand the love you are trying to give them. It's best to keep only the people who love you as much as you love them, and discard all the rest down the trash chute before dinner is even over.

About creating "cherry biscuit"

date written

author information

august 2022 – october 2022

by Brynnley Bunker
Raw, scary, possessive, at times overly aggressive, and all the while wholeheartedly romantic – Brynnley's poetry, prose, and subsequent artwork conveys the expression of the individualistic dark side within us all. The side we are all most afraid to confront, and at times, we deny its existence. Though, the apparent shadow inside us all still slithers behind our being, deeply rooted in each of our souls. We're not so different. In fact, we may all be the same. The secrets and truths lie within our hearts, and through Brynnley's work, she aims to be poignant and tender with it – like uncooked sirloin. Bloody, inflamed, and lustful.

inspiration behind the poetry collection

"Cherry Biscuit" began its creation from August to October of 2022.

After a dark period, our Poet begins to come back to light thanks to many angelic friends and epiphanies that create the idea behind the collection.

As if the Poet has invited all of her friends to a dinner party where, with each course of the meal, the all-consuming love she feels for the guests is intensely expressed. And while some friends are open to receiving the love she gives, realizing the intensity is not something to fear, but rather a gift, there are, in turn, some friends attending the party who see the love of our Poet as a scary, possessive, obsessive feat.

"Cherry Biscuit" serves up a dinner party where the true friends who help to pull you out of a darkness will love you entirely, as you are, and those who fear your love is too much will be kicked out of the party entirely, or even murdered with forks and knives. For if you try to hold on too tightly to all those you wish to love, you may come to realize the strain they cause you, how little they give to you, and you may choose to hate them and send them away.
